PAGEANT OF THE MASTERS
- Probably, one of the most amazing and inexplicable shows in the world, it has been held in Laguna Beach, California for the last 70 years and is a must see. This year, one of the senior Arpana dancers -Ahila Gulasekaram was filmed and her work will feature as a collage prior to the Indian segment. Click here for the website.
APEX - Another of the senior Arpana dancers - Anusha Kedhar is presently touring with a dance company based in London. I am delighted and proud that she was recently awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to study/research dance in India. She has also been selected to participate in the APEX program at UCLA this summer.
WORKSHOPS – For the second year in a row, Ramya will conduct workshops this summer in Europe and Asia. At St. Jean du Grad, France, she will be teaching the advanced nuances of abhinaya in the 7 day dance camp for European students of Bharata Natyam. At the invitation of the National Dance Association, she will conduct a 10 day Bharata Natyam workshop for teachers of Western dance in Taipei, Taiwan.
CHINA – The newly established sister city relationship between Irvine, CA and Xuhui, Shanghai will be consolidated with a cultural exchange in November 2006. Ramya and the Arpana Dance Company will perform in Shanghai and other venues on this visit.
